what is iGEM?
iGEM is an annual synthetic biology* competition involving undergraduate students from around the world. Students collaborate to create synthetic biology projects and contribute to a library of standardized synthetic biology parts.
* Synthetic biology takes systems designed by nature and combines them in novel ways to build useful things.
what are we building?
We are a team of diverse undergraduate students with our members majoring in biology, engineering, computer science, and statistics. This year we are looking to target the canola oil industry .... (More specifics here)

Applications for the 2022 iGEM calgary team are open! If you're interesed, come to one of our three information sessions running from 6-8pm on November 23rd, 24th, and 26th! The deadline to apply is December 3rd, 2021.
* Applications are open to University of Calgary STEM majors of any year, aslong as they are returning to classes in the fall of 2023.
